For the next while most of my photos will be night time as that’s the only time I really have to get some practice. For this session I just headed down to a nice little spot that give a nice view of the Alex Fraser Bridge and the Fraser River shoreline. This location is pretty cool when the tide is out as there are some nice remnants of old water front structures. One almost looks like a sunken wooden boat with the ribs of the boat showing.

The photo of the city skyline is of Burnaby BC about 10KM away, This was shot from a lookout on River Road in Delta BC.

Equipment Details

  • Olympus EM1 MK2
  • Zuiko 43 50-200MM ( skyline photo)
  • Panasonic 8-28mm (bridge photos)
  • Neewer carbon fiber tripod.
  • Darktable image editor.

Headed out to Vancouver to do some night photography. First stop was False Creek/Olympic Village and to take a shot of Rogers Arens. Managed to get one shot sequence of 5 shots 2EV to make a night time HDR image.

I changed positions and climbed down to the water over some boulders. The are was super slippery. Made it down and set up the tripod, 5 seconds alter the camera decided to wanted to skinny drip. It went lens first into the water submerging the whole lens. Yah good times, good times.

So a few days later thanks to Olympus and Panasonic weather sealing everything seems to be working.

Wed morning on way to work decided to drive through Fort Langley, Glen Valley and Matsqui Flats to get some photo of any flooded areas that were not on the heavy flooded Sumas Prairie.

I wanted to do some drone shots but there were quite a few choppers lying in and out in the area so decided not to.

Had a power outage today at my shop in Mission. Since it was late in the day decided to see if I can get some shots of places that flooded. Drove by the damn  on Lougheed HWY and saw that it had a crazy flow so decided to take some shots and quick video clips.

Talked to some locals and they said they never see the flow and water height light this before.

While doing some errands drove my Lougheed Mall and saw a cool scene of new high rises with a mist over top of them with a Sky Train track below them.

Getting wet from cars splashing water from runoff while taking photos of the high rises decided to head to New Nest and shoot the two bridges. Got soaked as did the Em1 and 12-100.  At least it was a good session to find out my winter jacket is no longer water proof lol, guess time to get some water replant.

Golden Ears Maple Ridge

Golden Ears Maple RidgeDay started already late for work, while driving on HWY 17 I noticed the mountain rage behind Maple Ridge was snowy and light up really nice. Once I got over the Golden Ears bridge decided it was worth being even more late for work and take a few photos. Parked in the industrial area and walked up onto the bridge till I got a nice clean view.

At first zoomed in more onto the peaks for an up close shot but saw that some trees and the far off forest would make some nice layers leading into the snowy peak. The orange leaves still visible would also add a nice contrast.

Equipment used:

  • Olympus EM1 MK2
  • Olympus Zuiko 4:3 50-200
  • Edited in Darktable
